“I was like, ‘I’m Heidi, and I’m going to make something like a Heidi-themed dirndl out of patent leather,” she explained to host Jimmy Fallon. “But I had to do my own hair and makeup. At that time, I didn’t know anyone who did special effects makeup.”
As a result, she admitted, “This is boring.”
But when she showed up last year with husband Tom Kaulitz, guitarist for Tokio Hotel, dressed as the title character from the 1982 classic E.T., she definitely didn’t make the call.
“I loved being an ET,” Klum said, but admitted, “It was so heavy to put my head from the back to the front. I thought my neck was going to break.”
And the head that supports the Halloween Queen’s crown is heavy.
“A lot went into this because we wanted it to be so amazing. This isn’t something that comes together overnight,” she explained to People of the intensive process. “It takes a long time. It requires careful planning.”
And now she’s pulling all her tricks as she has fans waiting for the big announcement. “I don’t want to disappoint anyone, so I always try my best,” she added.
