Kelly Clarkson returns to social media with personal message after Brandon Blackstock’s death

Parenting can sometimes take Kelly Clarkson’s breath away.

After all, every parent sometimes feels like they figure it out as they grow up. The “Stronger” singer has begun trying to convey that fact to his 11-year-old daughter River Rose Blackstock.

“I look at my daughter all the time,” Kelly began while speaking with guest Mariska Hargitay on the Oct. 15 episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show.

The American Idol alumna, who is also the mother of 9-year-old son Remington Alexander Blackstock with her late ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, also reflects on the idea that the way you view your parents changes as you get older.

“That’s interesting too. As you get older, you understand even if it wasn’t a great decision for you. You start to see it from a different perspective, and you become a parent. You become a little more empathetic than you were in your 20s.”
