Stocks back on track Following Tuesday’s selloff, the S&P 500 and Nasdaq hit new closing highs. AMD has soared 43% in the past three days, marking its best weekly performance since 2016, according to CNBC’s Nick Wells. Among the “Magnificant Seven,” Amazon recorded its best day of the month, while Nvidia’s closing price was the highest. Meanwhile, Fair Isaac was the biggest laggard on the S&P 500 index, suffering its worst day since late May. Central bank officials were divided on whether to cut rates two or three times by the end of the year, including a quarter-point cut in September, according to the Fed minutes. Tarmac-strapped Delta Air Lines is scheduled to report earnings Thursday morning. In July, Delta Air Lines reinstated its 2025 profit outlook and predicted a stronger summer travel season than Wall Street expected. However, the stock price has fallen more than 5% this year and is on track to record double-digit gains for the second consecutive year. Among the major airlines, only United Airlines stock is increasing in stock price in 2025. The company’s stock price has increased 1% since the beginning of the year. PepsiCo, which is targeting pop music, will also report its quarterly results before the opening bell tomorrow. Last quarter, the company expected weak demand in North America to recover as strategic changes take hold. PepsiCo stock has lost momentum, falling 8.7% this year. CEO Ramon Laguarta will appear on CNBC tomorrow at 10 a.m. ET. PEP YTD Mountain PepsiCo Stock Year to Date Blue Jeans, Green Gains If that’s not enough earnings action, Levi Strauss releases quarterly results after the bell. It’s still early, but the stock is on track for its seventh consecutive month of positive growth, the longest monthly winning streak in history. Levi Strauss is up more than 42% in 2025, on pace for its best annual performance ever. Contessa Brewer of Macau’s rising star CNBC will be broadcasting live from Macau, where the country is benefiting from the recovery in global travel. Las Vegas Sands, Wynn Resorts and MGM Resorts all operate properties there. Wynn is on track to rise more than 40% in 2025, its best annual performance since 2017.
