“Halloween is the time to investigate fears, transform them, and celebrate the unknown,” she said in a September 17 statement provided by the group. “Horror, like the film that shaped me, was a space to celebrate the classics of horror, but it defends bold new voices and reinvents the way stories are told.”
And her story about how she became a Harro Queen started well before she became famous.
“As I got more work, my outfits got better,” Janelle told the Hollywood Reporter in 2024. “I was a maid. I was a waitress. I worked at Blockbuster. I loved it because I was able to see all the movies before other customers.
She continued. “I took money from those jobs and used it to enhance the outfit by mixing and matching from Spencer, Party City and thrift stores. It went on for many years. I saw it as an art project.
