Elon Musk’s AI company Xai now has a new Chief Financial Officer. Former Morgan Stanley Banker Anthony Armstrong reported, citing an anonymous source.
Armstrong, who previously advised Musk in a Twitter deal, will oversee the finances of both Xai and X, which merged in April, the report says. The former banker has been working with Xai for several weeks and has only recently been appointed CFO, the FT added.
Xai has not had a CFO since former financial manager Mike Liberatore left the company in July. Armstrong’s appointment follows the Slate, famously known for both Xai and X.
Xai’s advisor, Robert Keele, left the company in August after more than a year of work. Senior lawyer Raghu Rao also set out at the same time, with Igor Babuschkin, one of Xai’s co-founders, saying in August he would leave the company to launch his own VC company dedicated to AI safety research. Former X CEO Linda Yaccarino also resigned in July.
Armstrong will take over X’s current CFO, Mahmoud Reza Banki, who has left the company, reported FT.
Xai did not immediately return a request for comment.
