Google is enabling Gemini Gems (custom AI assistants and experts designed for specific tasks) to be announced on Thursday. This feature was released last year. Initially, as part of Gemini Advanced Paid Subscription, users were able to create steps to create AI chatbots for various scenarios. For example, Google was launched with ready-made gems such as learning coaches, brainstorming assistants, career guides, writing editors, and coding partners.
Google says it’s as easy as it is to share gems with friends, family, or colleagues as you can share files from Google Drive.
This makes gems more accessible to more people. This is because not everyone uses advanced customization features. It also helps prevent people from building the same gem as others. For example, if multiple colleagues use a similar type of custom gemini assistant, they can share the same resource rather than creating their own versions that may have slight inconsistencies between them.
Google suggests that sharing GEM could also be useful for family vacation plans and guides, meal planners, or people working on co-writing projects.

To share GEM, open GEM Manager in the web app and click the “Share” icon next to the gem you created. And like Google Drive, you can control who can view and use gems and who are allowed to edit them.
After first rolling out to Gemini Advanced, Gemini Business and Gemini Enterprise subscribers, Google announced in March that GEM is available to anyone and can support file uploads.
