Best New Artist winner Olivia Dean says she’s a ‘gift of courage’ at the 2026 Grammy Awards
She doesn’t just need a man. Rather, Olivia Dean is confident that she knows exactly what she needs in any situation.
Consider her decision to record her second album, The Art of Loving, in a rented East London venue, which led to the British neo-soul singer winning Best New Artist at the Grammy Awards on February 1, 2026, ahead of Cateye, The Marias, Addison Rae, Sombre, Leon Thomas, Alex Warren and Laura Young.
The Man I Need singer made 2023’s Messy by shuffling from studio to studio, “making tea in other people’s mugs and taking bathroom breaks in other people’s bathrooms,” the Man I Need singer explained in her December cover story for Nylon magazine, and said she relished the opportunity to make the experience her own.
“I’m awake and setting the mood in the room,” she explained. “I’m going to burn some incense, but when people arrive, I’m already there. I’ve pulled out whatever I want to reference for the day.”
She chose a money-grabbing scent with patchouli and sandalwood. Perhaps it’s a little on the nose to garner praise.
