“When that came out, I got a call from TMZ because they wanted to make some kind of statement on the subject, including people from England and France,” Tapia de Vere said. “People are furious about the theme change, but I thought it was funny. I emailed the producer and said I wish we could someday do a longer version with Woo Loo Loo Loos, because people would explode if they knew it was going there anyway. He thought it was a good idea, but Mike cut it. He didn’t like it.”
The composer added, “I mean, at that point, I think we were already in the final battle forever. So he just said no, without saying anything.”
On the Howard Stern Show on April 8, White said it was “terrible” behavior for Tapia de Vere to complain like that.
“Honestly, I don’t know what happened. But the reason I’m reading the interview right now is because he decided to do a PR campaign about leaving the show. I just don’t think he respects me,” White said.
They “have never really fought,” the producer continued. “He says we had a feud…basically I was giving him notes.”
White said their collaboration “went well” during the first two seasons. Because they shared ideas. By season three, Tapia de Vere “didn’t want to go through the process with me, didn’t want to receive notes from me, didn’t want to go to sessions.”
And White added, “He’s definitely accomplished a lot just by being creatively different.”
