Wedding season is all about fun and play. Until you stare at your boyfriend’s closet and wonder why he doesn’t have anything that meets the “black tie optional” dress code. Been there and gotten through it. Don’t even get me started on the more obscure “beach formal” and “garden chic” soirees.
We all have enough things to worry about (like finding our dress), so 411 asked menswear stylist Marisa Menisto to dress your loved one in a sophisticated wedding season-worthy dress without completely stripping them of their style.
“It’s important not to outsmart the host,” Menisto told E! Accessories are where he can shine while remaining respectful. “Maybe it’s a fun belt, a new bracelet, a cool tie in a slightly different color, or a different pair of shoes than the other guests.”
Oh, the idea of having to pay thousands of dollars for a suit just to play a role? It’s a complete misunderstanding. Rather than spending too much money on the actual style, you should choose something more affordable and ask a good tailor instead.
“The biggest mistake men make is not having their clothes tailored properly,” she says. “You don’t have to wear the most expensive suit in the room. It’s the fit that really makes the difference. A well-tailored garment that fits the wearer perfectly can look as sharp and classy as the most expensive suit around.”
