Right-wing demonstrations in the Netherlands fell into violence and chaos on Saturday as the riots clashed with police and destroyed political party offices.
Police used tear gas and shells to disperse the mob who threw things at officers and ran through police cars. There were no immediate words about injuries or arrests. Dutch media have shown that rioters are attacking the offices of centralist party D66.
Party leader Rob Jetten said in X’s message, “You should take your hands off the political party.”
A small group of mobs headed for the Dutch Parliament complex.
The violence erupted in demonstrations attended by hundreds of people. Many of them were black and waving flags and calling for a stricter asylum policy.
The unrest comes weeks before the October 29 general election, when anti-Muslim MP Ghat Wilder was called after he separated his party from his party in a conflict to curb migration.
In a statement, Wilders accused the rioters of blocking the highway and attacking police, calling them “idiot” and “scum.”
