World number one Alina Sabalenka defended her US open title with a straight set victory over Wimbledon runner-up Amanda Anisimova.

Aryna Sabalenka held the US Open Crown and highlighted her claim as the modern queen of hard court with a 6-3, 7-6 (3) victory over America’s eighth seed manda Anishimoba in Saturday’s women’s final.
The Belarusians have not missed the major finals on hard court since 2022. Her latest trophy brings her Grand Slam haul to the 4 as she will be the first woman to open Grand Slam haul to the 4th in a row since Serena Williams claimed three consecutive titles from 2012 to 2014.

The battle between the most intense, hardworking and biggest women in tennis became an unforced error as Sabalenka reduced it to 15 compared to her opponents 29.
“I want to thank everyone who came here and flew to be in my box,” Sabalenka said.
“I’m going to reach more finals, and I don’t care where you are in the world, I want you to be in my box.”
New Jersey-born Anishimova played only in the second major final, and had partisan fans at the famous Arthur Ashe Stadium, but he never could have stuck to momentum.
“It’s been a great summer. It’s great to lose in the finals for the second straight time, but it’s very difficult,” said Anisimova, 24.
“I didn’t fight hard for today’s dream.”
Sabalenka sets the tone faster
Sabalenka, 27, had ice in her vein when she saved three breakpoints in the nervous first game, and Anisimova passed an early break when she sent a shot past the second baseline.
Anishimova hit her walk as she got a 12-shot rally with a forehand winner from Sabalenka’s reach and returned to the third game. The American took a break as her opponent hit one over the baseline for the fifth time.
The Belarusian, who had a tiger tattoo, was strewn along the baseline in frustration, struck by a chance to regain momentum, breaking Anishimova as he loved in the sixth game, converting from the eighth baseline with another breakpoint.
Sabalenka closed the first set with a non-returnable serve and sent backhands past his opponent to convert at the breakpoint of the third game in the second set.
Anishimova refused to give up as she leveled it out the sixth time with her own backhand winner, blowing the fans into frenzy. However, the American Party ended abruptly as the homehop sent the ball into the net on its seventh breakpoint.
Anishimoba stayed there as Sabalenka helped her break with a smash smashed in the 10th game. However, she sat in the power of the Belarusians in the tiebreak. There, Sabalenka sprinted to victory.
