Love Story’s Sarah Pidgeon reveals surprising relationship with Carolyn Bessette (Exclusive)
For most people, taking on the role of late American icon John F. Kennedy Jr. and his wife Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy would be daunting, to say the least.
But for model-turned-actor Paul Anthony Kelly (who plays the legendary president’s son in Hulu’s new limited series Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette, directed by Ryan Murphy), the performance was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and a job he didn’t take lightly.
“The opportunity presented itself, and it was a huge opportunity,” the Canadian-born star told Harper’s Bazaar earlier this month. “I felt like I could relate to him, and I still do. I understand who he is at his core, and I think our values align. It was something I knew I could do, and we could have fun and explore together.”
Despite having JFK’s dashing good looks and a head of hair to rival the Prince of Camelot, the 37-year-old admitted: “It was definitely a challenging role. And I saw a lot of similarities between him and myself, which I think ended up being a true portrayal of the character. But I’m still adjusting. I still can’t believe it’s me.”
