Don’t blame Taylor Swift for switching to this Elas Tour look.
The singer revealed that debuting the black and gold bodysuit on her Reputation set, which spans more than a year and a half on her Elas tour, wasn’t as calculated as fans initially thought.
“The original catsuit was made of a different fabric,” Joseph Cassel, Taylor’s stylist, revealed in episode 3 of the Disney+ documentary series End of an Era, which aired on December 19. “It was the only fabric that existed in the world, so we had to rework the fabric for the second catsuit and this one.”
In other eras, Taylor would change her looks regularly, but at Reputation, her original red and black bodysuit was one of a kind.
So Taylor and her stylist are excited to surprise fans, with Joseph noting that “people are going to lose their minds.”
However, while a change in fashion was necessary due to wear and tear, changing into new outfits this far into the tour seemed like a hassle.
“It’s really annoying and I have to wear it to work out,” Taylor explained after trying it on and partially not fitting it. “I have breast cups attached to my ribcage, so I’ll have to see if this can happen…The shape that suits me right now isn’t that pretty.”
So when the changes were made and it fit like a glove, it was a huge relief.
After trying it on before a show in Miami, she insisted, “It fits. It’s perfect. Nothing sticks out.”
