Why Survivor’s Boston Rob, Parvati Shallow and More Didn’t Appear in Season 50
Survivor’s newest castaways will have to outshine, outwit and outshine the major stars, whether fans like it or not.
After the CBS competition series teased cameos from big names like Billie Eilish, Jimmy Fallon and Mr. Beast during its upcoming 50th season, longtime host Jeff Probst shared how the idea to bring Hollywood fanfare to Fiji came about.
“I knew that some of the biggest Survivor fans happened to be celebrities,” he told Variety in an interview published January 5.
Jeff also mentioned concerns that this move could distract from the main purpose of the long-running series, which is to see how far people will go to win $1 million.
“I think it’s a legitimate concern that when you start adding layers like celebrities, they could overshadow the game and throw you off course,” the 64-year-old continued. “Our job was to make sure we stayed true to what we’re doing on Survivor, which explores this ongoing social experiment, and now we’re adding another layer.”
