Why Survivor’s Boston Rob, Parvati Shallow and More Didn’t Appear in Season 50
A twist of fate set Jason Torrell on the journey of a lifetime.
The Survivor Season 49 contestant was unanimously eliminated off-island on the Oct. 22 episode of the CBS competition series, but the elimination brought mixed emotions as he barely missed the match.
“I think I have an original idea about it. Or rather, I don’t think I have an original idea, I have a unique perspective. Because the reason I’m in the game anyway is as a substitute,” he said in an interview with Men’s Journal, published Oct. 23. “It’s out of my hands.”
The 32-year-old had been cast as a substitute along with Michel ‘MC’ Chukwujekwu, but with both players brought on just 12 hours before the game officially kicked off, the unexpected development appears to have prepared him for the short-lived game.
“The reason I ended up on the show was because of things that were out of my control. The reason I was taken off the show was a little bit out of my control,” he continued. “At least I think I’m playing the game.”
