Netflix addresses ‘Stranger Things’ secret episode theory after series finale
The party’s Dungeons & Dragons books are sitting on my bookshelf for now.
Amidst rumors that Stranger Things season 5 didn’t actually end with episode 8, show creators Ross and Matt Duffer have given an honest answer to whether the Netflix series could return.
“I feel like this season really, really closes the door on this story,” Ross told Entertainment Tonight in an interview published on January 2, “about the Hawkins story, the Upside Down story, and the story of these characters.”
However, that doesn’t mean it’s completely impossible to bring back some of the original characters in the future, including Mike (played by Finn Wolfhard), Will (Noah Schnapp), Max (Sadie Sink), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin), and Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo).
As Ross quipped, “You never say never.”
“[Maybe]in 20 years, if we go broke and need money, we’ll all be talking about it,” the director added, noting that the idea was a “safety net” for him and Matt.
