Annie would have had herbs or amulets for this purpose, but Mosaku had other ideas.
“She would have been more intentional with her time with her daughter,” she said of the character, who is estranged from but instinctively drawn to her husband Smoke (Jordan), who returns from a business trip in Chicago with his identical twin Stack (also Jordan). “And that was the lesson I learned from Annie in week one: ‘Slow down.'”
Mosaku is captivating in every scene, but she was clearly nervous when she first showed up to read with the film’s other stars.
“For the first reading, I’m so scared to read out loud because I’m dyslexic,” she exclusively told Justin Sylvester on Live From E!: Golden Globes. “It was embarrassing, because I was like, ‘Oh, that’s Stacks, that’s Smoke.[Hailee Steinfeld’s]girlfriend was off the books. Miles[Caton]he knew all the songs…Everyone brought their A-game.”
“That’s really good!” I thought. “I was really scared, really scared,” she recalled.
Yet they all worked together to create perfect harmony.
Taking a cue from Annie, Mosaku hopes photographers can enjoy the moment of capturing her glorious Golden Globes appearance for posterity. Check out the amazing fashion on the red carpet.
