Suzette Quintanilla and Chris Perez reveal the secret behind Selena Quintanilla’s iconic Grammys look
Selena Quintanilla’s loved ones are still dreaming of her.
And after visiting the Grammy Museum’s new exhibit, “Selena: From Texas to the World,” and seeing the iconic sparkling dress the queen of Tejano music wore to the 1994 Grammy Awards, husband Chris Perez and sister Suzette Quintanilla were struck by a long-forgotten memory.
“I’m looking at the costumes,” Chris told E! News during the museum’s Jan. 14 event. “We were just gushing because we weren’t really thinking about the Grammys dress in particular. But when we saw it now, it brought back memories of that actual night and stepping on the crystals on the bottom of the dress.”
Chris then explained that if you look closely at the marks on your dress, you can see where she scraped off some of the crystals.
Suzette admitted, “I saw it, and I’m not kidding. There were little specks, like your footprints.”
For Suzette, who had never heard the story before that day, learning something new about her sister was an “absolutely amazing” moment. And she returned the favor to Chris by revealing the details of the dress she found after moving it from the Serena Museum in Corpus Christi, Texas.
