“We had collectors that we worked with, and they would wear the same items from the same collection, whether it was the actual item that she herself wore,” Pidgeon told Vogue about guiding Bessette through fashion. “We found the Prada and Valentino coats she wore and matched them with some Levis to make sure they fit Carolyn perfectly.”
Furthermore, she continued. “The shoes I ended up wearing were amazing: Manolo heels and Prada boots. After the show, I felt much better at walking in heels. That’s all I can tell you.”
And while Pidgeon acknowledges there will always be some mystery surrounding the late style icon, whose doomed love story that ended in her death with Kennedy in a 1999 plane crash will forever remain a mystery, she hopes it has ultimately helped make her seem more human, if not exactly relatable.
“My hope is that people feel a little closer to knowing the woman behind the clothes,” Pidgeon explained. “Although she is known as a minimalist fashion icon, I learned that she also has a lively, funny, and wild personality.”
