“My best friend, Amanda Peet. The weirdest thing in the world is saying her full name out loud. I call her Bird, but that’s the name her parents gave her,” Sarah wrote in a March 22 Instagram post. “She has written some of the most profound and gorgeous essays about losing her parents while being diagnosed with breast cancer, so I thought it would be appropriate to use her here.”
Despite the difficult subject matter, Sarah focused on the accomplishments of her friend who wrote the essay itself, writing that she was “screaming with joy from the rooftops” after seeing it.
“I hope everyone will take the time to read it,” she continued. “If you’re running around or doing other things, I’ve made an audio recording so you can listen to me try to represent the piece correctly.”
Emphasizing that she loves her friend “beyond,” Sarah said: “My friend is an essayist for @newyorkermag. How crazy is that?”
