Hollywood is in mourning.
Oscar nominee Sally Kirkland, best known for her role in the 1987 film “Anna,” passed away on November 11, her agent Michael Green confirmed to TMZ. She was 84 years old.
The actress had recently entered hospice care in Palm Springs, Calif., after battling dementia for the past year, Green told TMZ on Nov. 9, before her death.
A GoFundMe set up to cover Kirkland’s medical expenses noted that she was treated for fractures in her neck, right wrist and left hip, as well as two other life-threatening infections.
A message posted on the page reads: “Sally was more than just a friend. She was like a mother, offering encouragement, wisdom and love when we needed it most. To those who knew her personally, she was an endless source of generosity, kindness and steadfast spirit.”
“And while she meant so much to so many people around her, she never had the luxury of a life partner or a child to lean on during difficult times,” the post continued. “She always made it a priority to be there for others and gave her all to her work, her church, her friends, and her community.”
