Dallas (AP) – Ruth Payne, Lee Harvey Oswald and his kindness to his wife will be relentlessly linked as a young mother near Dallas Assassination in 1963 President John F. Kennedy has passed away. She was 92 years old.
Payne passed away Sunday at a senior facility in Santa Rosa, California, her daughter Tamarin Laurel Payne said Thursday.
Oswald’s wife and children were staying at Payne’s house in Dallas, a suburb of Irving, in the fall of 1963. Oswald stayed at home the night before the assassination and before departing for his work. Lee Harvey Oswald, who lived in a room near Downtown, visits his family at Payne’s home over the weekend. However, the day before the assassination, he unexpectedly visited Payne’s house, where he failed to reconcile with his wife a few days ago.

A few years after the assassination, Payne said he became the principal of a small private Quaker school in the Philadelphia area, then completed his master’s degree and worked as a school psychologist in Florida for many years before retiring and moving to California.
