Online gaming platform Roblox is launching short form video feeds like Tiktok to share gameplay moments. The company has also announced increased revenue for creators, new AI tools to boost creation, and other advancements in performance.
A new short form video experience called “Roblox Moments” will be available in beta for users over the age of 13. Users can capture clips from the gameplay and edit and share those clips in a scrollable feed. Users can trim the clip up to 30 seconds, add music, and write a description before sharing.
Additionally, users can scroll through the feed of gameplay moments shared by the Roblox community, use emojis to respond to clips and jump straight into the experience from the video.
Later this year, Roblox will open API-based features that allow creators to build their own in-game creation and discovery systems. For example, creators can showcase trend clips and highlights from their gameplay and create leaderboards for what’s like the coolest overtaking in a racing game.

Roblox says that the gradual deployment of features allows moderation to be tested and refined to ensure that all content is age-appropriate. All content is subject to mitigation before posting, allowing users to report inappropriate videos.
When it comes to increasing creator revenue, Roblox is increasing its Devex rate, and by converting creator-earned Robux into cash, you can increase it by 8.5%. Currently, 100,000 Robux is equivalent to $380 instead of $350 when converted to cash.
“This is an important step in strengthening the company’s dedication to driving an economy where more creators can thrive and succeed,” the company shared with TechCrunch. “For example, the top 1,000 developers had an average revenue of nearly $1 million, up 2.9 times since 2020.”

When it comes to new AI tools for creators, Roblox is launching a series of new updates designed to provide artistic freedom, enhancements and smarter development support.
Creators don’t just generate static 3D objects, thanks to a new way of generating fully functional objects starting with selected vehicle and weapon categories. For example, creators can quickly provide “smooth and futuristic red sports cars,” while Roblox produces interactive cars that can be driven. From there, creators can change the car to their preference, such as allowing them to open the car door.

Additionally, Roblox’s new real-time voice chat translation feature will instantly convert voice chats to listeners’ native languages starting next year for players who speak English, Spanish, French and German.
Roblox has also launched the Speech and Speech-to-Text API from New Text to help authors build a more immersive and interactive experience.
Text-to-speak API allows instant narration and character dialogue, with 10 customizable English audio presets (coming soon) like non-playable characters (NPCs) giving instructions. The Speech-Text API supports voice commands, allowing gameplay actions such as firing cannons when the player says “Fire!”
Roblox has also announced new advances in performance and fidelity, including a new mode called “server authority” that reduces in-game fraud and makes in-game physics interactions more realistic. Additionally, the avatar will immediately make more realistic movements, such as running, climbing, and arching through obstacles with natural momentum. It also improves complex avatar actions, such as grabbing items with your fingers.
Additionally, Roblox plans to launch improvements that allow the platform to run at higher fidelity across devices without sacrificing additional effort or performance from its creators.
The update, released on Friday, follows the recent announcement of Roblox, expands its age estimation technology to all users and partners with the International Age Ratings Union (IARC) to introduce age and content ratings for games and apps on the platform. These developments arise amid ongoing lawsuits over child safety concerns.
