RHOP’s Wendy Osefo resigns from professorship amid arrest on fraud charges

Wendy Osefo will take some time off from her teaching job.

A spokesperson for the Potomac star addressed rumors that she was removed from her position as a Distinguished Visiting Professor at Wesleyan University following the arrest of Wendy and her husband, Eddie Osefo, on Oct. 9 on multiple fraud charges.

“Contrary to recent media reports, Dr. Wendy Osefo was not fired from her faculty position at Wesleyan University,” Wendy’s representative told People in an Oct. 14 statement. “She formally submitted her resignation prior to publication by the university.”

In fact, the 41-year-old’s legal issues had nothing to do with her choice to quit her job at the University of Connecticut.

“Dr. Osefo has made the voluntary decision to resign from his position,” the statement continued. “This decision was made independently and communicated directly to the university before any external reports surfaced.”

Wendy and Eddie, who have children Carter, 11, Kurtz, 9, and Camryn, 5, were taken into custody on Oct. 9 after a Maryland grand jury indicted the couple on 16 counts of fraud (seven for the former professor and nine for her husband).
