However, it remains unclear what the summit can achieve, given that some countries already have diplomatic perception deals with Israel and may be reluctant to break ties.
“Given the deep tensions between the Gulf countries and other regional officials, especially given its size, it is a remarkable achievement that brings together the summit within a week to highlight a sense of shared urgency in the region,” said New York-based Soufan Center. “The key question is whether it (the summit does) indicates a shift towards more consequential measures against Israel, such as diplomatic downgrades, targeted economic actions, and restrictions on airspace and access.”
Iran attacked Qatar in June and attended the summit
Iran sent President Masuud Pezeshkian to attend a meeting after the US bombed nuclear sites in June during the war with Israel and then struck Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar. Before leaving Tehran, Pezeshkian noted that a wide range of countries Israel has been attacking since October 7th.
“The administration has attacked many Islamic countries, including Qatar, Lebanon, Iraq, Iran and Yemen,” he said. “It does whatever it wants. Unfortunately, the US and European countries support these actions.”
Writing on Social Platform X, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araguchi added: “Iran is contrary to Qatar and in fact all Muslim brothers and sisters, especially the region,” Aragut and Pezeshkian did not mention Iran’s attacks on Qatar.
Qatar was important in his lectures on the Israel-Hamas War

Secretary of State Marco Rubio was in Israel On Monday for a meeting with Netanyahu and other Israeli officials to express US concern over the attack on Qatar and talk about Israel’s planned new attack in Gaza city.
Netanyahu faces increased pressure from the Israeli people on the fate of the remaining hostages held in Gaza. There are still 48 hostages left in Gaza, of which 20 are believed to be still alive by Israel. According to local health officials, Israel’s attacks in Gaza killed more than 64,000 Palestinians. Approximately half of those killed were women and children.
The war in Gaza began on October 7, 2023, when Hamas-led militants rushed into southern Israel, killing around 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and acquiring 251.
