DOHA, Qatar (AP) – Qatar security forces and emergency firefighters were deployed around the location deployed on Wednesday Israel attacks Hamas political leader the day before Those who gathered in the energy-rich Middle Eastern capitals to consider US proposals Ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

Tuesday’s strike at the Doha building killed at least six people in the neighbourhood, home to foreign embassies and schools.

The strike against the territory of US allies has elicited widespread criticism from countries in the Middle East and beyond. I also marked it Dramatic Regional Escalation They put emergency consultations at risk, aimed at ending the war and freeing the hostages that Hamas of Gaza still held.

Still standing building

From afar beyond the security code, the building that housed Hamas leaders in Doha could be seen standing still. However, one room in particular appeared to be the target of the strike. The wall collapsed, and grey tiled bleached inside.

Security forces and paramedics surrounded the site and blocked traffic when additional civil defense vehicles arrived.

The gas station on the side of the building directly denied the site and did not appear to have been damaged by the fire. The windows of one targeted neighboring building remained intact, suggesting that the ammunition used by Israeli forces is a low-yield weapon designed to hit buildings suspected of being met by Hamas leaders.

Israel said it adopted precision guided weapons to minimize collateral damage, but it has not specified what it used to carry out the strike.

Hamas said in a statement Tuesday that its top leader survived the strike, but five lower members have been killed, including the leader of Hamas in Gaza and the son of its top negotiator, three bodyguards and head of Al Haya’s office, while five lower members have been killed. Hamas, who once confirmed the assassination of the leader several months later, offered no immediate evidence that Al Hayyah or other seniors had survived.

Hitting American Allies

Qatar maintains a major arsenal of air defense systems, including both American-made patriots and terminal high altitude regions defense, or THAAD batteries.

However, it is not immediately clear that Qatar’s air prevention exists during the attack that occurred just before 4pm on Tuesday.

Qatar’s prime minister and foreign minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullan al-Thani said on Tuesday night that “the Israeli enemy used weapons that were not detected by the radar.”

Although he did not elaborate, the statement suggests that the Israeli fighter Jets may have launched so-called “stand-off” missiles to attack the site without actually entering possible Catary airspace in the Persian Gulf.

The US said it warned Qatar before the strike. Qatar said Sheikh Mohammed “said the Americans sent a message 10 minutes after the attack took place and were informed that there was a missile attack on Qatar’s condition.”

Qatar is also home to the US military’s forward surveillance headquarters for its Middle East-based central headquarters. The headquarters, located at the vast Al Udeid Air Force Base, also has US-run radar and defense systems, which recently hosted President Donald Trump on a local tour in May.

The story of Gaza that has stalled

The Israeli attack in Qatar threatened to overturn both a ceasefire in Gaza and negotiations on Israeli efforts to reach out to the Gulf Arab countries, New York-based think tank The Soo Fan Centre said in an analysis Wednesday.

“This attack has deep strategic implications by surprise the states of the Gulf Cooperation Council, by elucidating Israel’s weak normalization framework that undermines Abraham’s agreement and unravels the fragile normalization framework with Arab partners.

“Israel strikes against Qatar raise an unpleasant issue. A nation like Qatar punishes its role with carefully cultivated neutrality and commitment to peacebuilding, the Centre asked.

Local Qatar media cried firmly in the government’s statement issued after the attack. Qatar is ruled by hereditary chiefs, and like other Gulf Arab countries, it strictly limits its speech.

Al Jazeera, an outspoken satellite news network funded by the Qatar government, described the headline attack as a “brutal attack.” The Israeli government has banned Al Jazeera from operating in Israel or the West Bank Israel-Hamas WarAlthough the journalist is still broadcast from the Gaza Strip.

The state-run Qatar News Agency noted that the country’s ruling chief Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani had made a series of calls with world leaders. Trump.

Sheikh Tamim condemned the attack, and Qatar said “Israel is “bearing responsibility for its impact” according to the reading of the call.

Qatar Airways, the leading East-West airline from the country’s large Hamad International Airport, has sought to ensure that passengers are safe and uninterrupted.
