Will Prince Andrew’s announcement affect Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie’s titles? What you need to know
Not everything about the royal family has changed.
Speculation emerged that the decision could affect the royal titles of his children, Princess Beatrice, 37, and Princess Eugenie, 35, after Prince Andrew announced he was relinquishing his title as Duke of York, as well as other royal titles and honors due to ongoing scrutiny over his relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
But ultimately, the daughters’ titles remain unaffected.
In fact, Beatrice and Eugenie, who shares Andrew with ex-wife Sarah ‘Fergie’ Ferguson, will both retain their official titles of ‘Her Royal Highness’. (Both were previously known as “Princess of York” before marrying their respective spouses.)
Additionally, Andrew giving up his royal title will not prevent Beatrice and Eugenie from attending future royal events.
And her mother, who split from Andrew in 1996 after 10 years of marriage, will continue to use the name Sarah Ferguson in her career as a writer and TV personality, as well as in her personal life.
