Demi Moore, Michael B. Jordan and others celebrate at the 2026 Actor Awards afterparty
The race is on as awards season begins and the finish line looks tighter than ever.
While the months leading up to the Academy Awards typically reveal the frontrunners for the Oscar winner, the 2025-2026 season was unusual, with a variety of stars taking home the trophy.
For example, consider the supporting actor category. Leading up to the March 1st acting awards ceremony, no one had won twice at the Critics’ Choice Awards, Golden Globes or BAFTAs in the male or female categories.
Among the nominees, the Critics Choice Award went to Jacob Elordi for Frankenstein and Amy Madigan for Weapons, the Golden Globe went to Stellan Skarsgard for Sentimental Value and Teyana Taylor for One Battle After Another, and the BAFTA went to Teyana’s co-star Sean Penn and Wunmi Mosaku for The Thinners.
In addition to the winners listed above, rounding out the Academy Awards categories are Benicio del Toro for OBAA, Delroy Lindo for Thinners, Elle Fanning for Sentimental Value, and Inga Ybsdotter Lilleas.
And in such a competitive category, no one knows yet who the future Oscar winner will be, despite Sean and Amy winning back-to-back acting awards.
