Emmys2025 Honors Anne Burrell, Ozzy Osbourne & Maggie Smith in Memoriam Segment

Phylicia Rashad is honoring her TV son.

The actress appeared at the 2025 Emmy in Los Angeles on September 14th, introducing the “In Memoriam” segment of the ceremony.

“He was the beloved teenager of an iconic television series watching the world grow into masculinity,” Rashad began. “And like all of our friends and colleagues who have moved over the past year, Malcolm Jamal Warner remains in our hearts.”

“We remember them not only because of their immeasurable talent, but also because of the way they made us believe in something bigger, the best that exists within us,” she continued. “And even if they are gone with us, we all smiles to know that their influence will remain, and that their lasting impressions continue to live through the story and that they have come into contact with our lives.”

The segment, featuring Vince Gill and Lainey Wilson, who perform duets for their 1995 single “Go Rest High On That Mountain,” highlighted the losses of other stars who contributed to the television industry, including Anne Burrell, Michelle Trachtenberg, John Amos and Ozzy Osbourne.
