Maksim Chmerkovskiy has a bone to pick with this “Dancing with the Stars” move.
The former DWTS professional spoke candidly about why he disagrees with the show’s decision to hire Taylor Swift’s backup dancer Jan Ravnik as a professional for its current 34th season.
“I’m sorry, but Jan doesn’t need to be a Dancing with the Stars pro at all,” Max said on the Oct. 24 episode of his wife Peta Murgatroyd’s podcast, The Penthouse with Peta. “There’s zero underlying technology, zero quality, zero understanding of the partnership. Brother, I’m getting emotional. That’s ridiculous, this is unrealistic. How blind must we be? God forbid we say what’s clearly there.”
And he proved that Yang and partner Jen Affleck’s Oct. 21 performance on Wicked Night mattered.
“He had no idea what a foxtrot was,” Max continued. “How do you expect him to teach that and convey that message in a format that’s completely different than ballroom dancing? We got this criticism a few weeks ago, and I thought, ‘Brother, is someone going to explain that to him?'”
Eh! The News has reached out to ABC and Jean for comment, but have not yet received a response.
