Thirty-two years ago, Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen created double, double toil, and trouble.
By this time, the then seven-year-old twins had already become the youngest self-made millionaires. After launching her career as Michelle Tanner on Full House at eight months old, Mary-Kate and Ashley quickly expanded their empire. The child actors-turned-fashion designers founded their own company, Dualstar, which went on to produce all of their direct-to-VHS movies (including, of course, Double, Double Toil, and Trouble).
The made-for-TV movie premiered on ABC on October 30, 1993, and has since become a somewhat neglected Halloween centerpiece, save for the Olsen twins’ loyal fan base who grew up obsessed with the sisters’ songs and movies. But Double, Double Toil and Trouble is packed full of ’90s nostalgia, indescribable moments, and a cast that also includes Eric McCormack. (However, he previously admitted he hadn’t actually seen the movie).
“No, I’ve never seen it,” the Will & Grace alum told Entertainment Weekly in 2021, even though he wasn’t a big fan of his long acting career in the film. “It’s hard to go back and look at … certain looks. Also, I had only been on TV for probably a year and a half, so I was still trying to adapt my stage acting to the camera. I was probably scared to go back and look.”
