Martin Sheen wants his son to be in the spotlight.
Two days after Charlie Sheen released the Netflix documentary aka Charlie Sheen, the director of the two-part film Andrew Renzi shared how the actor’s famous father felt about bringing a turbulent, real-life story.
“I saw the documentary next to Martin,” the film director told a Hollywood reporter in an interview released on September 11, adding that the Westwing star is the “most scary person” to view the document. “I was sitting next to the US president and watching one of the previous cuts of this film.”
But Andrew’s nerves were ultimately unnecessary. After all, he said that Martin, who, along with Charlie’s brother Emilio Estevez, chose not to sit for an interview with the project, supports the final result.
“My point of view was that he wanted his son to give him a moment to tell his story,” Andrew explained.
And while Martin may not share his perspective on his son’s life in the documentary, Andrew still finds a way to nod to the patriarch.
