What did Luigi Mangione say in his book?
When Mangione was taken into custody, he wrote three pages of writing totaling less than 300 words, NBC News reported, citing the New York Police Department. Three senior law enforcement officials told the outlet that the posts said in part, “Frankly, we were expecting the parasites to come.”
Officials continued to say in the document that Mangione acted alone. But officials told NBC News they have not ruled out other actors at this time.
Mangione’s book read, “Dear Fed, I’ll keep this brief because I respect the Fed’s commitment to our country,” the official told NBC News. “To save a lengthy investigation, I would like to state unequivocally that I am not cooperating with anyone.”
“We apologize for the conflict and the trauma, but it needed to happen,” Mangione added, according to officials.
But Tisch noted that Mangione’s motives have not yet been determined.
“When you look at the manifesto and the three pages of documents that were recovered, I think you see a lot of anti-corporate sentiment and a lot of problems in the health care industry,” she told Today in an interview on Dec. 10. “However, the specific, specific motive will become clearer as the investigation progresses over the coming weeks and months.”
