Amazon Web Services, a leader in the cloud infrastructure market, reported on Monday that a large-scale outage had brought down a number of its well-known websites.
In an update at 2:01 a.m. PDT, AWS cited “operational issues” affecting “multiple services” and said it was “working on multiple parallel paths to accelerate recovery.”
Shortly after, AWS announced that it was seeing “significant signs of recovery.”
“Most requests should now be successful. We continue to work through the backlog of queued requests. We will continue to provide additional information.”
According to the website Downdetector, reports from users indicate that the following sites are experiencing issues: Amazon, disney plus, lift, mcdonalds Apps, New York Times, Reddit, Ring, robin hood, snapchat, T-Mobile, united airlineswith Venmo verizon.
Some United Airlines and Delta Air Lines customers reported on social media that they couldn’t find their reservations online and couldn’t check in or drop off their luggage.
Other social media users mentioned disruptions across cloud-based games, including Roblox and Fortnite, and cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase said many users were unable to access its services due to the outage.
Graphic design tool Canva said: “We have seen a significant increase in error rates, impacting Canva’s functionality. There is a major issue with the underlying cloud provider.”
