Gaza residents and workers said the bombing continues this morning until this morning, despite both Israel and Hamas expressing their willingness to pursue the first phase of President Donald Trump’s peace plan.
“Even though Trump is calling for all fires to be stopped soon, that is still ongoing,” Arshifa Hospital director Mohammad Abu Salmiyah told CNN about 8:30am on Saturday. “The bombing has been underway since last night.”
Alsifa is Gaza’s largest hospital.
Abu Yassar al-Quor, a resident of Gaza’s Al-Sabra district, said that the fire was still ongoing but was slower “with much less strength.”
Another resident, Mahdi Tabet, has been expelled from Gaza City and is taking shelter in Al-Zawaida camp. Refugees there told CNN about 9:30am local time that Trump’s peace proposal “signs a serious beginning to end the war that destroyed everything in the Gaza Strip.”
At the camp, “The airstrike stopped about an hour ago, but you can hear the sound of an explosion from Gaza,” he added.
Gaza Municipal spokesman Asem Al Nabi said the artillery fire was “highly difficult” before dawn on Saturday, but as the morning painted it, it was “relatively lighter than before.”
In X’s post, he spoke to Trump and wrote:
As previously reported, an Israeli military spokesman said this morning that “the north of Wadi Gaza is still considered a dangerous combat zone.”
To some degree: The Israeli Defense Forces and the Israeli Prime Minister’s office issued a statement on Saturday that they are preparing for the first phase of Trump’s proposal, including the release of hostages still held by Hamas in Gaza. However, neither statement noted that it had stopped plans to occupy Gaza city or that Israel had stopped Trump’s request to “stop the Gaza bombing soon.”
