10. Sure, Amanda’s Los Angeles home is gorgeous, but Iris’ cute country villa was the real swoon spot among the crew. After initially finding an attractive house, the producers decided to build one themselves to be closer to London.
Speaking on BBC Radio 2’s Zoe Ball Breakfast Show in November 2024, Ms Lowe, who described Mr Myers as a “perfectionist”, explained: “She went all over the region and couldn’t find the chocolate box cottage she was looking for. So she just rented a field, painted it and had someone build it for her.”
The production team completed Rosehill Cottage in just two weeks, and Myers said in the DVD featurette, “We built walls and planted trees. It was really just an empty lot. While it was there, it was a real tourist attraction.”
Unfortunately, the building was demolished after filming, and all interior scenes were performed on a sound stage in Culver City, California. As a result, Myers told cinematographer Dean Cundy not to shoot wide shots inside the cottage, so that it felt small and cozy.
11. According to Miffy Inglefield, who beat out more than 2,500 actresses to play Graham’s daughter Sophie, one of the film’s most iconic moments was Law’s performance as Mr. Napkinhead, with most of the scenes improvised. Inglefield told Vulture that Law came up with the line about smoking being bad for you, while Inglefield seriously told Diaz, “That line is so funny I almost fell off my chair.”
