TV footage showed a Boeing 747-8i chartered plane from Korea Airlines landing at Incheon International Airport, just west of Seoul on Friday. The footage also showed workers later wearing masks and passing the arrival hall.

They were in custody at the Immigration Detention Center in Folkestone, 285 miles (460 km) southeast of Atlanta. After the release from the detention center, they were bused to Atlanta to board the charter plane.

The South Korean government previously pushed them to take them home on Thursday, but said the plan was shelved due to reasons that involve the US. South Korean Foreign Ministry later said President Donald Trump was allowed to continue his work from South Korea and stopped the departure process to ask whether he should help train American workers or be sent back to South Korea.

“President Trump had instructed that (detainees) should be allowed to go home freely, and that those who don’t want to go don’t need to do that,” South Koreans said. President Lee Jae Myung He spoke at a press conference on Thursday. “We were told that the process was suspended due to that direction and that the administrative procedures were changed accordingly.”
