Volleyball players Julian Fawcett and Carli Lloyd share the truth about parenting and professional sports. In short, moms can do anything. (Unless, perhaps, you are negotiating with an irrational toddler who is throwing a tantrum.)
This was because we both imagined that it would be difficult to stand on the court once we had a child. Carly has a 4-year-old daughter, Storm, with her husband and fellow volleyball player Riley McKibbin. Julianne is mum to five-year-old Tre and two-year-old twins Ramsay and Ruby, who almost passed.
“In some ways, I’m a lot stronger than I’ve ever been,” Julianne emphasized in an exclusive interview with E! News, she says she is now “more in tune” with her body.
And while she acknowledged that regaining her core strength after becoming a literal person “takes time, of course it takes work to repair it so you can come back even better.”
As long as you surround yourself with the right team.
That’s because when Julien first tried to get back into the game, signing a contract to play in Italy about six months after giving birth to Tre, “playing and being a new mother was very difficult,” she admitted. “Also, to be honest, the team wasn’t very supportive. There wasn’t a lot of understanding of what postpartum was like.”
