Normani didn’t need much motivation to bring back Dancing with the Stars.
The singer, who partnered with Val Chmerkovskiy on Season 24 in 2017, made a surprise cameo on the dance floor during the Season 34 finale on Nov. 25, performing a freestyle routine to “Motivation” and Beyoncé’s “Bow Down” with finalist Jordan Childs and pro Ezra Sosa.
“She was actually the one who said, ‘I think you should be on your freestyle,'” Jordan exclusively told E! After the show, News’ Will Malfuzzi explained how Normani promoted herself after attending a taping as an audience member in late September. “I didn’t know she was serious until her manager called me and said, ‘No, she’s serious. She wants to be a part of it.'”
Needless to say, the Olympian made it happen right away.
“I was like, ‘Okay, Ezra, let’s do this,'” she recalled telling her dance partner. “‘We’re going to make this one of the most iconic freestyles.'”
In fact, Jordan and Ezra performed so well that judge Carrie Ann Inaba called their performance the best freestyle routine in DWTS’ 20-year history.
