The opening song for Taylor Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl refers to William Shakespeare’s Hamlet character Ophelia, who is facing a tragic fate.
According to the lyrics to the song, Taylor “may have owned melancholy” if she hadn’t been saved by true love.
“I heard you call the megaphone,” sings Taylor. “You want to see me alone.”
The lyrics seem to be that Travis Kelce is calling Taylor because he didn’t see him on her Eras tour.
The lyrics continue: “I pledged my loyalty to me and me.” “Just before you lit my sky.”
Before meeting Travis, Taylor was refreshing from his breakup from Matty Healy, who declared in July 2023 as one of the “independent girls.”
However, the Sparks began flying after Travis went to a concert in Kansas City the same month.
Now, Taylor’s fiancé has even appeared in the Easter Egg Game, making fun of the lyrics to “The Fate of Ophelia” on Instagram in July. (There were some adventures this offseason,” he captioned the photo with Taylor, adding, “Keep it (100)”.
How does that lead to Taylor’s song? Well, as the lyrics progress, “You dug me out of my grave and saved my heart from Ophelia’s destiny / Keep it 100.”
