James van der Beek’s health keeps him on the sidelines.
The 48-year-old announced that he must skip the Dawon’s Creekcast reunion set planned for September 22 after fighting stage 3 colorectal cancer and closing two gastric viruses.
“This is the night I’ve been looking forward to most since I said my angel Michelle Williams returned in January and had put it together,” he wrote about his previous co-stars on September 21.
“Despite all the effort… I can’t be there,” he added. “I can’t stand at that stage and thank you for appearing for me in all the souls of the theater and for opposing cancer when I needed it the most.”
The one-night only event will feature original cast members of the WB teen drama series, including Michelle, Katie Holmes, Joshua Jackson, Mary Bespale, John Wesley Ship, Mary Margaret Humes, Nina Repeta, Carsmith, Meredith Monroe and the busy Phillips, who are in favor of the theater of Dawson’s live readings.
