After a month of action and 30 intense matches, it finally comes down to the biggest match of all: the Women’s World Cup final.
Tournament host India will face off against first-time finalist South Africa in a close battle to determine the new world champion.

Where will the Women’s World Cup final be held?
Sunday’s final will be played at the 45,300-capacity DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. The multi-purpose sports arena is primarily used for cricket and hosted three league matches and a semi-final at this year’s Women’s World Cup.
India have an unbeaten record in this tournament, with wins over New Zealand in the league stage and Australia in the semi-finals, before losing to Bangladesh undefeated. South Africa have never played at this venue.
There were two options for Sunday’s final: DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai and R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Had Pakistan qualified, the latter, which is considered a neutral venue, would have hosted the match.
As per the agreement between India and Pakistan brokered by the ICC, both countries have the option to play matches at neutral venues in tournaments hosted by either South Asian country.
The nuclear-armed neighbors shared four days of intense military and air clashes in May, but have not visited each other for bilateral cricket competitions in 13 years.

Jemima Rodriguez: India’s middle-order batsman showed nerves of steel to lead India to an unexpected victory over giants Australia in the semi-finals thanks to an unbeaten 127 off 134 balls. The 25-year-old initially struggled for consistency and was dropped once in a league match, but bounced back with determination when her country needed her most.
Rodriguez, who has so far scored 268 runs and scored a ton and a half-century in each, is ranked ninth in the batsmen’s rankings.
The Mumbai-born batsman, who revealed he had faced anxiety in the weeks leading up to the semi-final, had hit an unbeaten 76 against New Zealand before Thursday’s semi-final.
Player to watch: South Africa
Laura Wolbert: Captain Wolbert, the tournament’s top scorer with 470 runs in eight innings, is South Africa’s most reliable batsman. After bouncing back from a slow start, the opening pitcher regained his rhythm and consistency and achieved his first league half-century mark.
But Wolvaardt was at his best in crucial moments, scoring a whopping 169 points in Wednesday’s semi-final victory over England. This is the third most in a Women’s World Cup final tournament, and the most by a captain.
Her batting masterclass took South Africa to 319 wins and 7 losses, the third-highest score in the World Cup finals.

Having lost two finals, India will be hoping that the third final will be the charm.
India finished the league in fourth place, losing three games, including one against finalists South Africa, to book their ticket to the finals.
Against all odds, India dominated record seven-time champions Australia in the semi-finals, scoring a record 339 runs in the women’s ODI.
Rodriguez was the driving force behind India’s hard-fought five-wicket victory in his first World Cup appearance, while captain Harmanpreet Kaur also shone with the bat, scoring 89 runs.
Opener Smriti Mandhana was India’s top run-scorer with 389 runs and second highest overall, while Pritika Rawal (308 runs) also made an impact before an ankle injury forced her out of action before the semi-finals.
Deepti Sharma, joint top wicket-taker with 17 wickets, and left-hander Shree Chalani (13 wickets) are India’s best performers in the bowling department.

Sunday’s match will be South Africa’s first World Cup final since 2017 and 2022, when they lost in the semi-finals.
In this year’s tournament, they lost two out of seven league matches to Australia and England, finishing third in the league before defeating England by a huge margin of 125 points in the first semi-final in Guwahati.
Captain Wolvaardt continues to perform well as the tournament’s top run scorer, with Marisanne Cupp tied for sixth on the bowling charts with 12 wickets, including a career best of five wins and 20 losses in the semi-finals. Kapp shares sixth place with teammate Nonkululeko Mlaba.
