Google CNBC has fired more than 100 employees in design-related roles.
Earlier this week, the company fired employees from the Cloud Unit’s “Quantitative User Experience Research” and “Platform and Service Experience” teams, as well as some of its neighboring teams, according to an internal document viewed by CNBC.
The role often focuses on understanding and implementing user behaviors that inform product development and design using data, research and other tools.
Google has halved some of its cloud unit design teams, and many of the affected people are based in the US. Some employees are given to find new roles within the company until early December.
The company did not immediately respond to CNBC’s request for comment. Business Insider first reported that several cloud roles have been eliminated.
The latest layoffs are as Google accelerates its cuts to concentrate its spend on artificial intelligence infrastructure.
Since the beginning of the year, search giants have provided voluntary exit packages to many US-based units across the company, overseeing the banking of more than a third of managers.
Also, recently we have begun to encourage our employees to use more AI in our daily work.
So far, the company has provided acquisitions to US-based employees from units in HR, hardware, search, advertising, marketing, finance and commercial sectors.
CNBC reported in August that Google CEO Sundar Pichai told employees that “it’s more efficient to scale up, so the staff doesn’t work out all of it.”
