Doug Martin, former All-Pro running back for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, has passed away. He was 36 years old.
“It is with great sadness that we inform everyone that Doug Martin passed away on Saturday morning. The cause of death is currently unconfirmed. Please respect our privacy at this time,” his family said in a statement to FOX Sports.

Martin was selected 31st overall in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft after a stellar career at Boise State. As a rookie, he threw for 1,454 yards and 11 touchdowns, earning him a Pro Bowl berth. He made the Pro Bowl and was a first-team All-Pro in 2015, rushing for 1,402 yards and six TDs.
Martin finished his career with 5,356 rushing yards and 30 TDs in six seasons with the Buccaneers and one season with the Raiders. He also had 148 catches for 1,207 yards and two scores.
The Buccaneers released a statement saying, “We are deeply saddened to learn of Doug Martin’s sudden and unexpected passing…Doug made a lasting impact on our franchise.”
Martin was named one of the top 50 players in franchise history as part of the team’s 50th anniversary celebration.
He played one season with the Oakland Raiders in 2018, finishing his seven-year career.
