It’s a great day for Katherine Heigl as she remembers the life of Eric Dane.
The actress, who co-starred with Eric on ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy, shared a powerful message about grief just days after the Euphoria actor passed away after a year-long battle with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis).
“I debated this post for days,” Katherine wrote in an Instagram post on February 22nd. “I’ve never been comfortable grieving in public. I share my tears, my stories, my memories with those closest to me, but often only to Heaven. But that silence can often seem like a lack of consideration, and I couldn’t stand it here.”
She also had kind words for Eric’s family, including his estranged wife Rebecca Gayheart, with whom he shares children Billy, 15, and Georgia, 14, with the burlesque actor.
“Rebecca, Billy, Georgia…there really is very little that can be said about a tragic loss like yours,” she continued. “In the midst of so much pain and grief, words like ‘I’m sorry’ and ‘My prayers are with you’ all ring hollow. So I’m going to say the only words that have brought me peace when I lost a loved one: a poem by Robert Frost.”
