Rebecca Gayheart details ‘very complicated’ relationship with Eric Dane as he battles ALS
Eric Dane missed out on a major milestone due to his battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
In fact, the Euphoria actor, who announced his diagnosis in April, was forced to miss the ALS Network’s Champions for Treatment and Care Gala on January 24, where he was honored as Advocate of the Year.
“The ALS Network has been informed that Eric Dane would have liked to join us tonight to accept this year’s Advocate Award, but due to the physical realities of ALS, he is not healthy enough to attend,” the organization said in a statement ahead of the event, The Hollywood Reporter reported. “We are deeply grateful for his courage, advocacy, and continued commitment to the ALS community, and tonight we honor him with our deepest respect and support.”
“Broadway star and Grammy nominee Aaron Lazar will accept the award on his behalf,” the statement added.
The gala, which announced in September that Eric, 53, will be the main recipient, recognizes those who have made dedicated contributions to advances in treatment and improved care for people with ALS.
