Duck Dynasty’s John Godwin reveals twin grandchildren hospitalized after giving birth
John Godwin’s dynasty expanded.
The Duck Dynasty alum’s daughter Johanna Mata recently welcomed twin daughters Cassandra and Isabella with husband Cecilio Mata, but the birth didn’t go as expected.
“They got here too early,” John shared on the Jan. 1 episode of his podcast “Duck Call Room,” explaining how the baby girl arrived weeks before her due date. “He’s still in the NICU.”
The ordeal began in mid-December when John and his wife Paula Archer Godwin received a call from Joanna saying she was in hospital. At the time, Joanna had high blood pressure and doctors were monitoring her 24 hours a day for preeclampsia, a pregnancy disorder that can cause serious and potentially fatal complications.
“She said, ‘You guys get up here,’ and ‘They want to have your grandchildren,'” John recalled.
Joanna gave birth to Cassandra at 9:24 a.m. on December 19, and Isabella arrived “a few minutes later,” she shared in a recent Instagram post. The babies weighed 5 pounds, 6 ounces and 4 pounds, 11 ounces, respectively.
