Luka Doncic had a game-high 41 points and eight rebounds in the Los Angeles Lakers’ 116-99 win over the Brooklyn Nets on Friday night, and also earned his 16th technical foul, which led to his suspension.
Austin Reeves scored 15 of his 26 points in the fourth quarter, and the Lakers finally pulled away from the young Nets for their 11th win in 12 games. LeBron James added 14 points and eight assists for the Lakers, who returned from a 5-1 road trip to third place in the Western Conference standings.

Josh Minott had 18 points and six rebounds for Brooklyn, which snapped its 10-game losing streak. Nic Claxton and Ziare Williams each scored 16 points to lead the Nets’ lively offense, but both starters sat on the bench for the entire fourth quarter along with Noah Clowney.
The young Nets held on to the weary Lakers until the final minutes, erasing an early double-digit deficit and taking the lead in the fourth quarter, their 20th loss in 22 games.
Doncic made five 3-pointers in his 15th 40-point game of the season, but the Slovenian superstar ran into trouble in the third quarter when he was whistled for a double technical foul on Williams.
Williams was celebrating an offensive foul on Doncic by shouting gleefully in Doncic’s personal space. When Doncic reached to shove Williams’ arm away, Williams backhanded Doncic in the face.
Doncic will be suspended from the game unless his technical is rescinded. He had already received a technical revocation after being whistled for an altercation with Orlando’s Goga Bitadze last week.
Bronny James played alongside his famous father for the second straight game, and LeBron recorded the first father-son assist in NBA history on Bronny’s 3-pointer in the second quarter. Bronny was mostly limited to sweepstakes in his first two NBA seasons, but he earned rotation time this week when Marcus Smart was out with an injury.
Bronny and Williams played together in high school at Sierra Canyon School outside Los Angeles.
