Dodgers’ Alex Beshear honored his wife Kayla and late daughter Sterling in his first game since his death.
Alex Beshear keeps his loved ones close.
The Los Angeles Dodgers player paid tribute to his family with a customized baseball glove at his first game since the tragic death of his wife Kayla Beshear’s newborn baby, Sterling Sol Beshear.
During a game against the Arizona Diamondbacks on March 27, 29-year-old Alex is seen wearing dark pink gloves. As sports commentators pointed out, his mitt not only had Sterling’s name engraved on the side, but also her date of birth on the inside.
But that’s not all. In honor of Kayla, also 29, the first letter of her name was sewn onto the ring finger of the glove.
The day before, Alex reflected on his return to the sport he loves.
“Same goal…different perspective…new motivation,” he wrote on Instagram on March 26. “I’m grateful to everyone who has supported me.”
“Dodger Nation is going to bring the energy,” he added heartily. “I’ll make SSV proud.”
Kayla also touched on MLB Opening Day, which is “very bittersweet.”
