Deepak Chopra’s new AI companion is modeled after his life’s work

Best-selling author and wellness leader Deepak Chopra is optimistic about the potential of artificial intelligence. “The reality is that AI is here to stay,” he says.

Chopra believes that while this technology can be harmful, it can also be beneficial when used specifically for self-discovery. Chopra recommends using AI chatbots to get to know yourself better, suggesting questions like “What is my purpose?” “How can I cultivate self-compassion?”

Chopra recently launched an online wellness platform that offers meditations, a community discussion board, and live sessions led by Chopra herself. And he’s bullish enough about AI that he created his own Deepak Chopra chatbot.

Unlike large-scale language models such as Anthropic’s Claude or Google’s Gemini, Chopra’s bot is a so-called small-scale language model. Rather than training the bot based on all human knowledge, it will be specifically trained on Chopra’s work.

“I’ve written over 95 books,” he says. “I’ve done countless conferences and have thousands of videos on YouTube, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. So I fed them all into the AI.”

Subscribers to the Chopra platform pay $10 per month, which includes access to the chatbot. Non-subscribers can pay anywhere from 50 cents per 30-minute session to $6 per month to use the bot.

The problem is that AI is here to stay.

Users can choose from a set of pre-existing prompts on topics such as success, relationships, sex, and spirituality, or simply enter their own questions. Answers are returned in text format and can also be played out loud in Chopra’s voice.

But Chopra said bots have limitations: “We’re not going to work on suicide prevention.” “It’s for professionals.”

Chopra’s chatbot also does not offer psychotherapy.

Instead, you can give the bot a prompt like, “I haven’t slept in five days, can you meditate?” Chopra says. or “I have problems in my relationships because I can’t communicate.”

“So here are some guidelines,” he says.

Ultimately, Chopra said he wants people to develop empathy, compassion, joy and inner peace, and that he wants it to be a resource for users 24 hours a day.

“You always have me in your pocket as a sidekick,” he says.

He added that he is comfortable continuing to be present in his family’s life.

“Even after I’m gone, my grandchildren’s grandchildren will still be able to talk to me,” he says.
